NSJF Fourth DraftInvitation to Organize Activities

for Niagara Social Justice Forum 2018

Do you want to connect with student, activist or community groups committed to social justice?

Do you have a great idea for a workshop, performance, exhibit or other activity?

We want to hear from you!

Hosted by the Social Justice and Equity Studies Graduate Program at Brock University, the Niagara Social Justice Forum is a day-long program of activities including concurrent workshops, performances, exhibits and information tables. This event typically attracts over 150 people from both campus and the community and explores a wide range of issues. Activities are proposed and organized through an open call to campus and community-based individuals and groups committed to social justice.

The main goal of this event is to build relationships between student groups, researchers, activists and community organizations working on issues of social justice, difference and diversity. The purpose of this “Call” is to invite those with an activist orientation (broadly defined) to submit a proposal to host a workshop, performance, exhibit or information table. We encourage all types of workshops including those that involve art, music, drama or other experiential, embodied modes of interaction.

· Using the form provided, send a title and brief description of the proposed activity.

· Make clear its relevance to social justice.

· Articulate goals of the activity and intended audience:

· Explain how your activity will prepare participants to take next steps.

· Identify who is proposing and will organize the activity. Include contact information.

Those proposing activities are responsible for mobilizing the necessary resources to mount the activity. Forum organizers will host the event, provide a delicious lunch, coordinate space and technological support, provide free childcare, and promote the Forum’s activities. The event is free and open to the public.

For more information, to submit proposals or book an table for the lunchtime information fair, please reply to Mary Breunig, Graduate Program Director, Social Justice and Equity Studies:
